Randy Feltis , co-owner of The Farmhouse
Sarah Jackson, co-owner of The Farmhouse
Randy grew up on his family’s farm in quaint Lake Dalrymple, Ontario, where they raise cattle, produce maple syrup and grow a variety of vegetables. The true farm to table experience runs through his being. For Randy, the best part about childhood days spent on the farm was the good, old fashioned home cooking. His family farm still runs today and much of the restaurant’s deliciously fresh and seasonally selected ingredients are sourced directly from those fields. Randy is one busy guy, he has another incredibly great restaurant, PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint – opened in it’s first location in 2009. A second location was opened in Barrie in 2013 and a third location in Pickering opened in 2014. He runs a very much in demand catering service for events big and small, from 300 guest weddings to private, intimate dinner parties. Randy is also a guest expert for Toronto’s CityLine.
Randy is a graduate of George Brown, he apprenticed in some of Toronto’s top restaurants, spent some time in Ireland and then returned to Canada and opened his first place, Oscar’s Restaurant, in Downtown Barrie. In 2013 he closed Oscar’s and opened The Farmhouse, going from a fine dining approach to a more casual, family oriented atmosphere.
Sarah grew up in Toronto and had been in the food industry in various locations before coming to Oscar’s when she moved to Barrie in 2001. Besides being a successful restaurateur, she is also a model with Sutherland Models, giving her the opportunity to be immersed in two very different worlds, design and food. While this international side to her career gives her the chance to experience great restaurants worldwide and to return with interesting and innovative ideas, Sarah readily admits that it’s truly their family lifestyle that impacts the design and concepts for The Farmhouse. They’ve created an atmosphere that takes home cooking to a new level; the experience at The Farmhouse is comfort, quality and quantity.
